09∙01∙20 》Meat Pie 🇳🇬 I was thinking maybe not to upload this one so soon but I’m going to try these again next week so it’s all good.

If you don’t know already, they’re a Nigerian pastry snack filled with minced meat and different vegetables like potatoes, carrots and onions (whatever you’re feeling). You’ll always see them on the table in any party – they taste so goood 🤤

Before last week I hadn’t made these in a few years (first attempt is somehwre on this page 👀) – I actually thought to do this because of the cottage pies I made, the filling is pretty similar so that got the idea going
Last weeks and yesterday’s attempts tasted great both times – but there were a few issues with this one :’)

• After folding them, you need to press the pastry down with a fork to seal it all off. But I added too much baking powder in the mix and so while they were baking the pastry unsealed again and puffed up – so like 90% of them didn’t close propely 😭

• Not sure wether it was over-kneaded or a bit too much flour, the pastry wasn’t as flaky as you’d want it – BUT if you eat it warm you can’t really tell haha

• Because of the ratio the pastry was a liiilte too thick, the filling helped to cover it up though.

• Had an egg wash problem too but its minor :’)
