December 2018 – Final seminar for Nutrition in Context. We were in the kitchen look at different versions of the same food – fast food, shop bought and homemade. •
I had fun making my version of beef burgers (the burger patty press was the best part🤣), with a mix of tomatoes, onions and gherkins to go on top of it. The final two pictures show the process the best.

There were loads of different foods made by everyone: pizza, sweet and sour chicken, brownies, curries, burgers, carrot cake and blueberry muffins 🍕🍰🍛🍗🍔

Once all the food was ready they were all placed on the table and each group of food was given either the letter A, B or C. Once we tried them we had to try and name which one was the fast food version, shop bought version and the homemade version. With some you could tell which ones were homemade but with others it was more difficult to tell.

It was nice to see how some of the foods we usually buy can actually be made easily at home, it’s just a matter of having the ingredients and making time to do it. Making it from scratch also let’s you see what is going into your food and you can control the amounts of salt, sugar etc you are putting in.
